David Design Engineer.jpg

Director

David Hawkins

Dave started his career as an electronics design engineer, working with military radios, and then torpedo design, at Marconi. Responsible for hardware design, then software design, and system design and sub-contract management.  After some years, Dave moved into commercial roles, initially as project manager for a large MoD radio communications project, for Cray Defence, then onto product management at Roke Manor research. There he was responsible for developing and selling the very first digital radio (DAB) evaluation kits, followed by the first commercially available DAB modules, for use in the Hi Fi market.

After Roke, Dave moved to Radioscape, as VP Business Development, where he was responsible for specifying and launching the world’s first DAB/FM modules for  consumer radios. This included setting up an office in Hong Kong to oversee the production, customisation and sales of the modules. Prior to starting Nekto, Dave was Sales and Marketing Director at ML Electronics, an electronics design and manufacturing business.

Connor Design Engineer.jpg

design Engineer

Connor Lascelles

Last year I worked at ML Electronics (now 4E Futures), a design consultancy in Salisbury, as part of my placement year for a Product Design degree at Bournemouth University. My 6 months in industry was an invaluable experience and the skills I attained will carry forward in my future work. Within my role I developed design skills using cost-effective manufacturing solutions, building designs on solidworks and prototyping using FDM and SLA 3D printers. From working within project teams I learnt the importance of cohesive collaboration between hardware, software and mechanical design.

Previously, I worked at Ted Baker HQ for 7 weeks, where I was involved in a range of professional creative operations and saw my work in advertising campaigns and in-store design. In comparison to consultancy work in a B2B company, Ted gave me the insight into designing for a B2C market.

Lottie Hawkins

I recently moved into Bournemouth's newly launched co-working space called THIS Workspace and started my own digital marketing business specialising in B2B marketing & advertising. I have a background in the arts and digital strategy, my forte is the strategic planning and use of data in marketing.

Previously, I studied Molecular Biology at university where I became interested in sustainability and ethics. I moved to London where I did an internship within the commercial art world, and a post-grad qualification with Google in Digital Marketing & Leadership. I decided to follow this path and I now work closely with social enterprises and sustainable business'.
